Slab matching · Verona and Valpolicella

One slab, matched on foot across a district.

A client sample held flat against a full slab, veining aligned for the match

The problem

A sample arrived from the U.S. with no quarry name and no lot. From photos alone it could have been any of a dozen warehouse stones, and a remote buyer had no way to be sure.

The approach

We treated it as a search problem. We photographed the reference under controlled light, defined the vein, tone and background targets, then walked the warehouses across Verona and Valpolicella, comparing candidates against the sample.

  • Sample profiling under controlled light
  • District-wide search on foot
  • Side-by-side comparison vs the sample
  • Lot and provenance verification

What a remote buyer cannot do from photos, we did on foot.

The outcome

We shipped only the slab that read as the same stone. The fabricator received the exact match, traceable to its block, with no second-guessing, and a repeatable way to source the un-findable.
